National Service Scheme (NSS)

The motto of the National Service Scheme (NSS) is “Not Me, But You.” It signifies that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of society as a whole. The motto embodies the spirit of democratic living, emphasizing selfless service, empathy, mutual respect, and concern for fellow human beings.

The NSS Wing of Loganatha Narayanasamy Government College (Autonomous) comprises three NSS units with a combined strength of 300 student volunteers. The units are committed to nurturing socially responsible, disciplined, and service-oriented citizens through active participation in community service programmes.

In line with the primary objective of the NSS—“Personality Development through Community Service”—the NSS units of the college organize a wide range of extension activities, awareness programmes, camps, rallies, and outreach initiatives that enable students to:

  • Understand the community in which they serve.
  • Understand themselves in relation to their community.
  • Identify the needs and problems of the community and actively participate in finding practical solutions.
  • Develop a sense of social and civic responsibility.
  • Apply their knowledge and skills to address individual and community issues.
  • Develop the ability to work effectively in groups and share responsibilities.
  • Acquire leadership qualities and a democratic outlook.
  • Gain experience in mobilizing community participation.
  • Develop the capacity to respond effectively during emergencies and natural disasters.
  • Promote national integration, communal harmony, and social responsibility.

Through these initiatives, the NSS Wing of the college strives to instill the values of service, leadership, discipline, and compassion among students while contributing meaningfully to the development and well-being of society.
