About the department
The department of History is one of the oldest departments in the college. Founded in the year 1966. Post Graduate course in history was introduced in the year 1979. At present, the department ha5full time faculty members and 11 Guest Lecturers.
The library of the department has rarest collection of books and has been subscribing to various journals. Being one of the oldest departments in the college, the department sets itself as role model for teaching morals. The students of the department have been placed in various Government and private organizations at various levels of jobs. Alumni of the department includes eminent scholars, professors and judges.

- The Department of History has committed to create an academic environment in which the students and Professors can fulfill their potential and to enable all the students to receive a quality teaching and learning experience that is intellectually, socially, culturally and personally transformative.
Mission
- The Mission of the Department of History is to teach the values of History and develop historical knowledge. The Post Graduate course will enable students to teach and to advance their research studies.
- We aim for our students to gain better understanding of regional, national and international history and connect to the future.
- We are committed to impart essential employment skills such as critical analyses, verbal expression and creative writing with an Arts degree.
