About the department

GENESIS

The department of Physics is one of the oldest departments in the college. It was started in the year 1975.   Department has started offering B.Sc. Physics course in Shift II from 2006. The department is upgraded to become a PG department in the year 2012 and was upgraded to Research Centre in the year 2020. The department has 5 (Sanctioned strength13- as per work load, needed staff numbers 18) full time Faculties and 4 Guest Lecturers and 1 PTA staff number for  shift  I   and  shift II  has 3 Guest lecturers. The department offers UG, PG and Ph.D courses. The library of the department has rarest collection of books and has been subscribing to various journals. The department strongly encourages the students to experience Physics through experiments with its very well equipped laboratories for conducting all its academic programmes. Well-equipped, intellectually stimulating and supportive vicinity is provided by the Department for a sound and cheerful education in physics at UG and PG levels.

The department has been equipping itself with financial assistance from the State Government and other funding agencies, being one of the oldest departments in the college, the department sets itself as role model for research activities and teaching morals. The students of the department have been placed in various Government and private organizations at various levels of jobs.

  • Nanomaterial synthesis and characterization for various applications.
  • Nano structured Thermoelectric Materials
  • There are 2 laboratories for UG, 2 for PG and 2 research laboratories with adequate instruments and equipments.
  • Wi-Fi Enabled Department.
  • Using N-List, Faculty members and students are able to access E-Journals & E-Books in the Department itself.
  • The Department is equipped with Library facility having more than 5000 books and some journal back volumes like Indian Journal of Pure and Applied Physics, Asian Journal of Physics.
