About the department
The department of Tamil is one of the oldest departments in the college. It was started in the year 1966 as foundation department. The department is upgraded to become UG and PG department in the year 2012. Department is elevated to research department in the year 2014 by adding M.Phil and Ph.D courses. The department has 6 full time faculties and 5 guest lecturers.
The library of the department has rarest collection of books and has been subscribing to various journals. Being one of the oldest departments in the college, the department sets itself as role model for research activities and teaching morals.
The department has also got its own wifi connection to serve the needs of the student and staff. The staff and students of the department have been participating in various research activities. The staff have published papers in peer reviewed journals and have participated in seminars of repute
